February 26 Change in CultureI came across this article on today's The New Paper and i want to share with you about what the Lord is doing through the culture mandate! "He give up playboy life" TNP 26 Feb pg 27 Taiwanese star Van Ness Wu finds God and looks to celibacy to start afresh Report: Charlene Chua One of the pieces in Taiwanese American singer-actor Van Ness Wu's new jewellery line is called the Chastity Belt. And the 31-year-old Taiwanese singer-actor says the piece - a ring designed to be worn on two fingers - is a current reflection of his life. Van Ness, a Christian, claims he has given up his playboy ways and wants to focus on religion. He told TNP: "One of the things that I felt was keeping me from God was sex. So I told myself, let's just stop that right now." Van Ness was in town yesterday to promote his latest movie Kung Fu Chefs, which co-stars HK actor Sammo Hung and Japanese actress Kago Ai. In the movie, which opens in cinemas today, he plays Ken, a martial arts foreign exchange student who loves cooking. The actor, best known for being one-fourth of one of Taiwan's hottest boy bands, F4, said he has made a decision to remain celibate. He has even changed the spelling of his name - from Vaness to Van Ness - the spelling of the road he was named after in his hometown of Los Angeles. And it's not only his name that has changed. He confessed that at the peak of his careers in F4, he had led a life of "fast cars and one night stands." Van Ness broke into showbiz in 2001, when he was cast with other F4 members - Jerry Yen, Vic Chou and Ken Chu - in the highly successful 2001 Taiwanese idol drama, Meteor Garden. He said his fame and fortune resulted in him losing his sense of self. Van Ness, who has been linked to Taiwanese starlet Vivian Hsu and Jap singer Aisa Senda, explained: "There were days when I thought, 'how did I even get here?' I was concerned with the millions of dollars needed to buy a big house. I felt insecure and empty." The actor said he put his fast life behind him at the beginning of last year when he returned to the US. He said spending time with his family and not thinking about work made him "more grounded". Van Ness had given up his job as a telemarketer and moved to Taiwan seven years ago to pursue a career in entertainment. His mother, sister ans niece still live in the US. But Van Ness said his new perspective on life didn't happen overnight. "I have been a Christian for the past seven years but have I really lived up to that? I asked myself that and the answer was clear. Now I'm a changed man." Van Ness, attributes his renewed belief in religion as having helped him when he was down. He recalled how he felt lost when he moved to Taiwan as a 24-year-old. He said he was turned down a few times by numerous record labels and had turned to prayer to ask "for a miracle". Before he knew it, he was cast in Meteor Garden and became part of one of the hottest boy bands in Asia. F4 went on to release three albums and was the first foreign artiste to hold seven consecutive concerts in Japan, breaking the records of Taiwanese and HK pop sensations Jay Chou and Faye Wong. Their group albums combined have sold more than eight million copies worldwide. Van Ness, who has three solo albums to his name - his latest offering titled In Between released in July last year, has starred in movies such as Star Runner and Three Kingdoms: Resurrection Of The Dragon and Dragon Squad. A different dream Ironically, Van Ness confessed that he had never wanted to be part of a boy band. His initial goal, when he made the trip to Asia, was to do TV and film. He added that at the height of his career, he felt stifled by his management company, Fu Long, which he said dictated his image and choice of work. Van Ness said: "I'm not the type of person who likes to be confined. I wanted to do the music that I love, not something which the record company thinks will make money." But don't call him ungrateful. Van Ness said he's happy for the path that being in F4 has paved for him and the "roller-coaster ride of his fame" was something that he had to live through and get out of his system. He has now signed on with a new management agency, BST Corp - which stands for Blood Sweat and Tears - a company which he founded with "people I trust". He plans to focus more on movies and TV dramas, but will also release a new solo album later this year. He also recently launched his jewellery line named 3VO7 (stands for the word "love" if the letters are flipped). Having designed all the pieces himself, he says that the collection is an art representation of where he is in life right now. For example, on a pendant named Heart Trap, which is shaped like a mousetrap, the words "save me" are inscribed behind - his personal message to God. Van Ness said that he couldn't have done this two years ago because he wouldn't have been in the right frame of mind then. He said: "I wanted to make a statement with the pieces and I know people will listen. I used to be all about the bling. Now I am just about being positive and healing." ..... ![]() ![]() Isn't this cool? God used someone of fame, changed his life and use his testimony to inspire others. But more than being transformed, he uses his creativity to be a blessing to others and preached a msg of love. I think we need to do more to love people and pray that God will transform them. I did a search on his blog. You can find out more from here: http://www.alivenotdead.com/vannesswu Rgrds, -@win February 24 Happy 6 mths anni3 wonderful events in less than a month! Recently I came across an unpleasant encounter and I've decided to share my views on my blog.
Singapore, being an epitomy of asia, is one of the popular countries that attract people all over the globe for various reasons.
Some are here to work, study, travel and some eventually decides to dwell in this small peaceful nation.
Most of us have learnt through school about living in a racial harmonious society.
But sometimes I wonder if that's the case in reality...
I want to talk about this topic on RACISM
Wow.. strong word, taboo word.
You can be jailed in Spore for being a racist or making a racist remark.
What made me address this topic is because I see some Singaporeans treating our foreigners inhumanly.
Not exactly inhumanly like how the blacks were in slavery decades ago in the US...
But there is this certain prejudism we have that all of us will agree that is among the majority of Singaporeans.
Some common remarks on this workers especially the Indians, Bangladashis etc.. are like these..
"So noisy.." "So smelly".. "Eee..so gay, they hold hands"..
They're often avoided in public or being attacked with sweeping statements.
Aren't they as human as we are?
I sympathize with them.. really..
(although i do admit that I used to make racist jokes in the past)
I found out recently that many of them come from poor family backgrounds...
They travel miles just to get a job here in Spore.
But they're often ill-treated by their employers.
The media will not lie if you're familiar with the White Tiger incident regarding the cleaning company..
Some agencies cheat these workers of their hard-earned wages for months and refuse to pay a single cent resulting in these poor workers
petitioing to MOM. Just look at their living quarters. With beautiful flats in Spore, we're all living in a comfortable environment. Most of us have our
own rooms or at most, sharing with our siblings.
But these poor workers have to squeeze in small quarters
Just read these articles:
Their poor health, accident-prone worksites, home-sickness have left me wondering - do they deserve this?
Could Singaporeans give them some sympathy rather than being disrespectful to them?
With less than $1000 per month, they save and skimp just to send money back to their homeland.
But I've never seen them frowning.
Ironically, Singaporeans that are having a good life, good pay often frown and look so stressful.
These foreign workers will often "chill out" under void decks, sitting around in their sarongs eating peanuts and drinking.
Want more evidence? Go to JE Interchange on a weekend.. Hang around JP or even the famous Little India. Focus especially on big fields. Take a bus that passes Serangoon.
Yes.. they're in mass numbers. At times they do pose as a nuisance to the public with their volume and their litter. But.. do you see the SMILES on their faces?
One thing that I can learn from them is that they definitely know how to relieve stress.
Let's learn to be tolerant with these people and accept their culture, for the way they are ya?
Human rights will say that they deserve to be treated equally as us.
The next time you want to criticise a foreigner, think first before you make any statement. I'm sure you won't want to be "bullied/outcast" in a foreign land as well
February 16 V-day specialMy very first V-day in a relationship!!! (History in the making)
It was very memorable for me to spend such a romantic nite with babyly.
We were looking fwd for this day. Coming 24th will be our 6 mths anniversary!
To many, V-day on a weekend is great. But for us, it clashes with church.
Moreover, there was prayer mtg after svc! Had to make up our mind if we will still go or skip
and we're so glad that we went to pray. It was a good pry mtg to end off our 1 week prayer in church.
By the time it ends, kinda late already..
Wanted to do a simple one..
Went to Bedok for a simple but sumptuous meal.
After which, we head down to ECP to LM..
(haha...shall not reveal much..)
we xchanged our presents. Awesome..
dear dear was so sweet to self-design a photoframe for me.
its 2 glass blocks with the photo between it. i simply love it!

February 03 Revelation: ForgivenessHi guys,
After a notable absence from blogging, I've decided to 'pencil' some of my revelations down to share with all of ya!
I always believe in the more you share (sow), the more you'll receive from God (reap).
Enjoy!
Recently, while preparing one of my sermons, I came across the story of Jesus and Peter. It is one of the well-known stories in the Bible where Peter denied Jesus 3 times and Jesus forgave him after His resurrection.
What touches me in this story is Jesus' mercy for Peter. I finally understood the meaning of true forgiveness. Among all the 12 disciples, Peter was singled out to be one who was the closest to Jesus. He was called a friend and was among the 3 who went up the Mt to see Jesus' transfiguration. He's like the modern day "PCGL" or next-in-line. Jesus entrusted His earthly ministry to Peter, taught him, discipled him in the 3 years. I believe that throughout the journey, apart from God, He would have confided with Peter and his friendship is so dear to Jesus. I guess everyone of us will hate the person who betrayed us. But Jesus love Peter and wanted to share His good news with Peter FIRST and rejoice with him! Jn 21:15 So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Feed My lambs." 16 He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You." He said to him, "Tend My sheep." 17 He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep. 18 Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish." 19 This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me." 20 Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, "Lord, who is the one who betrays You?" 21 Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, "But Lord, what about this man?" 22 Jesus said to him, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me." 23 Then this saying went out among the brethren that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?" 24 This is the disciple who testifies of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true. 25 And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen Jesus' demonstration of love made me understand the power of forgiveness. More than just forgiving and forgetting, He helped Peter by removing his guilt and made him great! What an awesome testimony of true forgiveness! February 02 Fabulous FebruaryIts Feb!!!
